Rapper Lil’ Kim, who was found guilty of three counts of perjury and one of conspiracy in March, faces another charges, this time of non-payment and intimidation. The lawsuit was filed by two songwriters in New York Supreme Court on the 28th of April. According to the court papers, Anthony Jeffries and Vincent Hart, both 23 years old, claim that the rap star, born Kimberly Jones, didn’t pay them for their creative contributions to her 2003 CD, La Bella Mafia.
In the lawsuit the plaintiffs claim that they were promised $15,000 each for performing and $10,000 plus royalties for each song they co-wrote. They also say that Kim promised to pay them $ 400 for concert appearance and public engagements. Both are seeking 100,000 $ in damages.
The suit alleges that in December 2002 the raunchy singer gave Jeffries and Hart compensation in the form of jewelry valued at $10,000 but demanded it back soon after that "under a threat of physical violence."
Kim’s lawyer L Londell McMillan has denied all the allegations saying that “they were paid by Atlantic Records."
"They had a falling out and now they've filed a frivolous and malicious lawsuit to embarrass her," he was quoted by BBC News as saying.
On March 17, 29-year-old Lil Kim was found guilty of lying to investigators and federal jury about her involvement into the shooting accident four years ago at New York radio station Hot 97. She is scheduled for sentencing for June 24 and may face up to 20 years in jail.
