Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes marriage in outfits designed by Giorgio Armani

Giorgio Armani designed outfits of bride, their baby and groom. As Hollywood stars Tom Cruise, 44, and Katie Holmes, 27, begin a honeymoon in the Maldives after the couple married in a 15th-century castle in Italy, an Italian official claims that their marriage is not legal.

Patrizia Riccioni, the mayor of the Italian city Bracciano outside Rome, where Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes married on November 18, 2006 claims that she is sure their union is not legal, because she was not present at the event.

The mayor states that absolutely no legal documentation have been filed by citizen Tom Cruise, who, in addition to wanting a scientology wedding ceremony, had been married twice before and therefore would have needed Riccioni's officiation of their marriage.

Anyway, the lavish wedding of Tom and Katie bore many symbols of the much-talked-about 18-month relationship between the two stars.

The highly stylish, decorous, romantic setting of a 15th-century Odescalchi castle in Bracciano was reminiscent of the fairy-tale quality of the actors' courtship. Holmes had once remarked that she grew up wanting to wed the "Risky Business" star. "I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise," Holmes told before she and Cruise began dating.

After exchanging vows before a Scientology minister on Saturday, Tom and Katie engaged in a "never-ending kiss." So said Giorgio Armani, who attended the wedding and celebration. Armani was designer of the outfits for the bride, the groom and their six month baby, Suri.

That kiss could be seen as a sweet gesture or as a reminder of the hyper-love the couple (or at least Cruise) has openly displayed since they first announced their relationship in April 2005 in Rome. Just a month later, Cruise was hopping on Oprah Winfrey's couch.

"I can't be cool. I can't be laid-back," Cruise said on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." "Something happened and I want to celebrate it."
