BIO
Anna Molinari - Blumarine, Blugirl

The Blumarine brand name was born from Anna Molinari and her husband Gianpaolo Tarabini and their passion for the sea and the color blue.

In 1977 in the small town of Carpi, the couple established the Blumarine Company, with the intent of creating collections inspired from the young, initiative designer's creativity. The project was a winner. Blumarine's debut in 1980 at the Modit in Milan was a great success. In 1986, a collection fully designed by Anna Molinari made it's debut in Milan and the road to success was clearly formed.

In 1987, the new girls-collection, Miss Blumarine is born, harnessing the true potential of the Blumarine brand in various sectors. In 1988, Blumarine decides to change the company profile and becomes a joint-stock company named Blufin. The transformation of Blumarine's image and the opening of the first single-brand boutique in Via della Spiga are some of the highlights of the nineties.

In 1995, the Blumarine line is joined by a new line: Anna Molinari, designed by Rossella Tarabini, Anna Molinari's daughter. Rossella Tarabini proposes a new conceptual style, filled with innovation and experimentation and sensual femininity. This same year, another line, Blugirl is born. Designed by Anna Molinari, it is a ready-to-wear line for girls and young women, instilled with a hint of irony, a lot of joy and a romantic tone. Blugirl made its debut at Milano Collezioni in 2002, with great success: and expresses the spirit of the Blumarine collection, readapted with great creativity and imagination.

Following the collaboration with photographers Gianpaolo Barbieri and Albert Watson, Blufin begins its artistic partnership with world renowned photographer Helmut Newton, creating advertising campaigns of strong emotional impact, which greatly contributed to the definition of the brand's image. After Newton, the artistic collaboration continues with other names such as Ellen Von Unwerth, Vinood Matadin featuring top models such as Naomi Campbell, Nadja Auermann, Carre Otis and Carla Bruni. Blufin grew at an astounding pace, opening stores worldwide, always maintaining high quality standards, and keeping all production in Italy.
